What Users are Saying

Below are some comments users have submitted regarding benefits they have obtained through using the Oregon Forest Industry Directory:

From a company listed in the directory - "I have been a part of the listing since its inception...I just want to say that over the years there have been numerous inquiries, both internet and land line about wood products and processing thereof. To say the least, I have found that better that 30% of my business has resulted in being on the list."

From a landowner listed in the directory - "We received an interesting telephone call the other day... someone looking for madrone found our name in [this directory] I had registered our tree farm at a class I took at Tree School many years ago when the website was launched... Anyway, we contacted the lady who wants small limbs for an artistic stairway project. [We] showed her some many-stemmed young madrone and will cut to her specifications. I hope she will send us pictures when the project is finished."

From a non-timber forest products buyer listed in the directory - we have gotten so much business through OFID. This is the most successful directory we have worked with. We're getting about 2-3 calls a week, mostly from suppliers.

From a landowner listed in the directory - A landowner that has listed his timber in the "Logs for Sale" section has been contacted by several international log buyers. They are ready to strike a deal that looks so good, many other local landowners will benefit as well. "I'm ready to quit my day job." The contacts came solely from their listings in the Oregon Forest Industry Directory.

From a company listed in the directory - "I've received 4 orders for a total of $10K-$12K thanks to my listing in the the directory." [a one-person custom woodworking shop]

From a company listed in the directory - "This directory has served us so well I can not even to begin to explain all the contacts we have received. For example, Private landowners wanting to log their hardwood forest in our area (Three sales). Numerous residual interest in our hog fuel programs... For log procurement this has been a great thing"

From a company listed in the directory - As a furniture and cabinetmaker in Eugene, I want sources of local products and to be listed as a user of those materials; The site seems to work well; easy to use." (this company used the contact form to report that the directory helped them find both customers and suppliers)

From a company listed in the directory - "I received a 'hit' today on my listing. [The person] noticed that I had some Oregon white oak and is interested in as many as 3 log truck loads. He is willing to pay $400 per thousand and he will pick them up on the landing plus pay the haul. Also, he has customers for good clear noble fir lumber for use in musical instrument sound boards."

From a company listed in the directory - "I have had a few inquiries and one purchase of our products. A lead came in last night about raw material and it appears that is going to work out good. Also have made a good contact with a gentleman looking for specific lumber specs."

From a company listed in the directory - "I've been listed in the directory for quite sometime now and have experienced at least a 15% increase in business due to the directory. I have picked up numerous contracts/sales that I would not have received had I not been listed with the directory. I always ask each and every customer/landowner/contact how they found us and am pleased to be able to report to you that approx. 18- 20% of them reply they found us via a Google search that lead to the Directory."

From a company listed in the directory - "I just got off the phone with a Spa in Southern California. The Owner is looking for juniper sawdust by the truck load! They use it for a detoxification treatment on customers. She found me on the web page."

From a company listed in the directory - I picked up a large customer (for me) out of California from the internet and my only exposure is from your directory to my knowledge. Im also working on another one out of Portland that has come to me the same way this last week. Both are rather large for me but still doable. When we are talking ongoing truckloads, I get busy in a hurry. It will be nice to see where this all leads.

From a company listed in the directory - Thank you for your help in setting up the classified ad for the lumber. I got an e-mail response within a few hours [the buyer] was impressed enough with my pricing and the description of the [product] to double his original order. You cannot imagine how relieved I am to have this marketing project drawing to a close.

From a company listed in the directory - I was skeptical that I'd get any sales from listing my product on a website. But last month ALL of my sales came from the web - and the buyers were all from the east coast.

From a visitor - "Thanks very much for the lead. From our initial conversation I'm very hopeful that I will have a good white oak supplier."

From a visitor - We had to take down a 40 ft wild cherry tree and thought about having it cut into lumber instead of using it for firewood. Instead of using the phone book, I just Googled 'custom sawmilling Oregon' and was VERY pleased to find this site. This site is just what I needed! I'm glad you post the last updated information; that helps me prioritize who to call first. Very helpful way to fine-tune the search with all the category options. Great site!

From a visitor - I'm starting up a new company. The process requires green hardwood that I will source from the East unless I can find some supply from Oregon. Oregon White Oak would probably work well in the process. Are you aware of any sources for Oregon White Oak in your area? Any ideas on sourcing green hardwood lumber or logs in the West is appreciated. I have contacted the usual suppliers, all of which direct me to yards in the East, but I am interested in smaller operations too
